Portion Guide

One of the most commonly asked questions is that about portion numbers. It is important to remember that if the cake design you choose doesn't yield the number of portions you need, then there are other ways to get around that.

It is always preferable, where possible, to provide separate cutting cakes to bump up portion numbers, rather than adjusting the proportions of your cake and compromising the design.

It is also important to remember that not everyone will eat cake, and for that reason we recommend that unless you are serving your wedding or occasional cake as a dessert, that you cater for 75% of your guests.

These portion guides, are based on traditional party sized portions - 2"/1" pieces when cut. If choosing rich fruit cakes, you can expect to double the portion numbers of any given tier, as traditionally these would be cut in inch square pieces.

So when it comes to portion numbers, our rule is to use portion numbers as a guide but don't let it compromise your design. Design first, portions second!
